The film tells the story of the little Jinling, who lives in the countryside in Guangdong China, with her grandmother and younger brother after her mother leaves for work in Hong Kong. Although Jinling’s mother appears only briefly in the film, her seems to “fill” Jinling’s world. Through the eyes of a child, the film explores themes of longing, loneliness, and growth with a delicate and realistic touch.
