The story is based on true events. Can (30) lives in Berlin, Neukölln, and is trying to finally make his way in the theater world. During an audition for a role, he faces racism and prejudice, but he counters the humiliation with humor. Feeling down, he meets a friend who tries to cheer him up by giving him a bicycle. However, the joy over the new bike quickly fades when Can realizes that someone is missing this exact bike and is looking for it online. Believing in his good karma, Can decides to return the bike to its original owner. But what during the handover happens is not at all what he was expecting. This film depicts the daily racial prejudice faced by people who are not considered white Germans. Our hero tries to be a good person and fit in, but in the end, he is reminded that none of his efforts matter when he comes from the wrong neighbourhood, has the wrong name, and does not have the right ethnic appearance. It’s about systemic discrimination in Germany, which is consistently neglected by society and politics.
